About The Position

The Retail Lead plays a key leadership role in Wally’s retail operations by directing and supporting inventory team members to ensure shelves are consistently stocked, organized, and accurate. Retail Leads oversee daily retail floor activities, coordinate inventory processes, and ensure company standards are followed in stocking, merchandising, and guest service. This position serves as a link between managers and team members, ensuring communication, accountability, and smooth day-to-day operations. The Retail Lead models professionalism, reinforces Wally’s standards, and provides coaching to help team members grow while delivering an exceptional guest experience.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • 1 to 2 years prior inventory experience preferred.
  • 1 year of supervising small teams is preferred.
  • Dresses appropriately for position; keeps self well groomed.
  • Consistently arrives at work and on time; ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent;
  • Follows instructions, responds to management direction; takes responsibility for own actions; completes tasks on time
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to communicate, instruct, and guide the guest service team.
  • Basic math and cash handling skills
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems using standard operating procedures.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to stand, walk, talk, and hear. The position also requires the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, balance, and reach with hands and arms.
  • The team member must be able to:
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Direct, coach, and mentor team members, providing guidance and feedback to build strong performance.
  • Utilize Wally’s Training Program and follow scheduled team member touchpoints to support skill development and relationship building.
  • Assist in the evaluation and corrective action process of team members.
  • Be a knowledgeable resource and point of contact for team members in the department.
  • Communicate daily priorities and updates from managers to the team.
  • Assign tasks such as stocking, rotation, and merchandising to ensure efficiency.
  • Provide daily tasks and coordinate with team members to maintain well-stocked, organized, and properly labeled shelves.
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate shortages or discrepancies to the Retail Manager.
  • Oversee accurate receiving, unpacking, and back stocking of merchandise.
  • Ensure FIFO (First In, First Out) practices are followed for product rotation.
  • Participate in merchandising resets, seasonal displays, and promotional layouts.
  • Maintain high standards of product presentation and cleanliness on the retail floor.
  • Assist store manager with inventory audits as necessary.
  • Ensure team members are attentive to guest needs and deliver professional, courteous service.
  • Step in to resolve guest questions or concerns quickly and effectively.
  • Work closely with the Loss Prevention Team when guest concerns or incidents arise, complete proper LP paperwork, modeling Aggressive Hospitality to de-escalate situations and protect company assets.
  • Enforce Wally’s safety standards and ensure all team members follow proper procedures when handling inventory both on the floor and in stockrooms.
  • Conduct regular checks of stockrooms, storage areas, and aisles to keep them safe and clutter-free.
  • Report and address damaged goods, hazards, or equipment issues promptly.
  • Act as the primary point of contact between team members and Retail Manager.
  • Collaborate with other Leads (Kitchen, Maintenance, Cashier, etc.) to ensure smooth store operations.
  • Maintain accurate records of stock counts, discrepancies, and product movement.
  • Communicate progress, issues, and needs to the Retail Manager in a timely manner.
  • Assist in scheduling and delegating tasks to ensure full coverage of responsibilities.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Retail Manager or Store Leadership.
