About The Position

This position will implement the standards and procedures of the Revenue Cycle. Plans, directs, integrates, and coordinates the leadership of operations, financial, programmatic and personnel activities for the Revenue Cycle team. Directs and promotes the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the Revenue Cycle program. The Revenue Cycle Director will perform their job duties in a professional manner while assuring that all the needs of the patients are met with a pleasant demeanor.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
  • A Bachelors Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field and a minimum of seven (7) years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle management, with at least three (3) years in a supervisory role is required.
  • Other combinations of education/trainings and experience that demonstrates the ability to fulfill the essential functions of the position may be considered.
  • Advanced certifications such as Certified Revenue Cycle Professional (CRCP) or equivalent will account for one year of education, while the Certified Revenue Cycle Executive (CRCE) or equivalent may substitute for two years of education.
  • Experience with healthcare billing, coding, claims processing, and financial reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of coding systems, as well as payer rules and regulations.
  • Experience with EHR and practice management systems.
  • HIPAA Certificate within initial 90 days of employment.
  • Ability to understand, speak, communicate and read the English language.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial and operational data.
  • In-depth understanding of healthcare regulations, compliance standards, and reimbursement methodologies.
  • Ability to identify inefficiencies and implement solutions to improve revenue cycle processes.
  • Knowledge of insurance contracting and reimbursement strategies.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Requires basic knowledge of accounting principles, methods, practices and terminology.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Requires ability to utilize a multi-line telephone with good telephone etiquette.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Well-developed human relation skills to convey technical concepts to others.
  • Ability to communicate technical information and to interact with a wide variety of groups and individuals inside and outside the organization.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work processes in a high-volume environment in order to meet schedules and timelines.
  • Ability to analyze data from multiple information ports by comparing and contrasting data to draw a conclusion or to identify trends.
  • Ability to communicate professionally in written, verbal, and non-verbal format while portraying a friendly tone, word choice, and body language.
  • Ability to take initiative and be proactive in the duties of the position in order to meet mandated deadlines and to comply with goals and objectives.
  • Valid Washington State driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

  • Direct, oversee, and manage the revenue cycle team, including billing, coding, claims processing, and PRC staff.
  • Develop and implement departmental strategies, objectives, and goals to optimize revenue cycle performance.
  • Monitor and manage the day-to-day operations of the revenue cycle, ensuring efficient workflows and accurate processes.
  • Hire, train, and mentor staff; conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing development opportunities.
  • Continuously evaluate the entire revenue cycle process to identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement.
  • Work cross-functionally with clinical and operational departments to improve documentation, coding accuracy, and patient registration.
  • Ensure accurate and timely billing practices, including the submission of claims, follow-ups, and appeals when necessary.
  • Prepare and analyze reports on revenue cycle performance.
  • Implement strategies to reduce claim denials and rejections, and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to revenue cycle efficiency.
  • Provide senior leadership with regular updates on financial performance, trends, and improvement opportunities.
  • Develop financial and operational goals to improve revenue cycle efficiency and profitability.
  • Ensure that the revenue cycle process is patient-friendly, addressing patient questions and concerns.
  • Work closely with finance, clinical departments, IT, and administration to align revenue cycle processes with organizational goals.
  • Foster a collaborative environment that encourages problem-solving, communication, and continuous improvement.
  • Responsible for developing program annual budget and operating within budgetary plan.
  • Complies and ensures compliance with applicable legislation, laws, codes, regulations, accreditation, funding and organizational requirements, policies and procedures.
  • Ensure confidential handling of sensitive team member and patient information in line with data protection policies and laws.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
