The Ride Controls Technician provides support to all maintenance and construction leadership to ensure a successful park operation. This position is guest-facing and has consistent interaction with all Hosts to complete tasks in a timely manner. We are currently looking for a: Adventureland Park - Ride Controls Technician Roles & Responsibilities: P erform ex p ert ele c t ri cal maintenance for all rid e s, attraction, food stand, stages, and CCTV throughout the entire facility Res p ond to ele c t ri cal-related issues in a timely manner ; troubleshoot and re p air any ele c t ri cal p roblems in a safe and effective manner Ensure com p liance with federal, state, local, and com p any p olicies and regulations, including those established by OSHA, etc. Develo p strong p ractical knowledge and skills in the areas of ele c t ri cal/ ele c t ronic maintenance and re p air , including P LC’s, Motors, Drives, Switches, Sensors Maintain ele c t ri cal services to p ar k buildings and other structu res Conduct p eriodic ins p ections of ele c t ri cal services to p roactively identify issues P ar tici p ate in the setu p of s p ecial p ar k events ( e.g. holiday lights, concerts, etc ) Res earch new trend s and advances in ele c t ri cal p roducts to hel p remain current with emerging technologies P rom p tly notify maintenance and/or p ar k leadershi p of any escalated maintenance issues or safety hazards Maintain all storage areas, sho p s, and mechanical areas in a clean, safe, organized, and secure manner Safely o p erate com p any owned trucks, forklifts, and other equi p ment Safely and effectively utilize standard ele c t ri cal maintenance equi p ment and hand tools, vehicles, hydraulic benders, ladders and scaffolding, ele c t ri cal testing equi p ment, welding equi p ment, torches, p ar k rid e s, t ele p hone, hand-held two-way radio, and manlift/forklift P erform routin e administrative tasks for the Maintenance de p ar tment , including ordering materials Assist all other Maintenance and trades Host s with com p leting maintenance p rojects All other duties and p rojects assigned by Maintenance or P ar k leadershi p

Requirements

  • High School di p loma, GED, or equivalent
  • Must be at least 18 years of age to com p ly with Iowa Child Labor Laws
  • Ability to work flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, o p en to close
  • Must have reliable trans p ortation to and from work for your scheduled shift
  • Must p ossess a valid driver’s license and a good driving record
  • Must be safety conscious and adhere to all safety p rotocols, including the p ro p er use of P ersonal P rotective Equi p ment ( P P E) when .
  • Ability to interact with other Host s, guests, contractors, and su p p liers in a p ositive, p rofessional manner
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues clearly, calmly, accurately, and safely, while in the p res ence of guests and fellow Host s
  • Ability to read and com p rehend rid e maintenance manuals, blue p rints, schematics, and technical drawings
  • Must p ossess a g eneral understanding of standard maintenance p ractices and p rocedu res for ele c t ri cal, car p entry, and p lumbing trades
  • Ability to follow direction, multi-task, and work as p ar t of a team as well as inde p endently
  • Ability to stand, walk, and remain on feet for extended p eriods of time during the day
  • Ability to frequently stoo p , twist, kneel, bend, squat, or reach above shoulders
  • Ability to carry, p ush, p ull, lift, and hold objects weighi ng 100 p ounds or more
  • Ability to work in awkward p ositions which can cause p hysical discomfort and strain
  • Ability to work in all non-conventional areas of the p ro p erty, including in confined s p aces or above ground-level, on scaffolds, ladders, and manlifts
  • Ability to consistently use hands to gras p , control, move objects/tools
  • Ability to see differences between colors and brightness
  • Ability to see details of objects that are more than a few feet away
  • Frequent interaction with all outdoor and indoor areas of the p ar k
  • Frequent ex p osure to the variable outside tem p eratu res , including high heat, cold, direct sun, humidity, dust, rain, snow, ice, and other weather conditions
  • Frequent ex p osure to ele c t ri cal currents and high voltage ele c t ri city
  • Subject to working at significant heights, reaching over 100 feet above ground level
  • Subject to constant re p etitive motion, very high noise levels, vibrations, machinery, motorized equi p ment, and vehicles
  • Subject to the handling of and ex p osure to dust, dirt, grease, oils, chemicals, detergents, and cleaners

Nice To Haves

  • 3 + years of college, trade school, or technical degree p referred highly desired ; Equivalent work ex p erience will also be considered
  • 5+ years of p revious work ex p erience in ele c t ri cal maintenance or as an ele c t ri cian
  • 3+ years of control / P LC ex p erience, p referred
  • 3+ years of p ower distribution, p referred
  • Ability to read, write, and s p eak fluent English; S p anish or other bilingual language skills are a p lus.
