About The Position

Are you interested in being the trusted voice that keeps Vanguard’s funds strong and ahead of risk? We are hiring a Risk Advisor for our Finance Risk team! As a Divisional Risk Advisor, you will support teams within Vanguard’s fund ecosystem by helping them understand and manage the risks within their daily processes and key initiatives. You will work closely with business leaders to identify the risks that matter most, bring clarity to complex situations, and ensure important issues receive the right visibility and follow‑through. In this consultative role, you will help strengthen risk practices across the division by highlighting potential problems early, providing thoughtful challenge, and supporting clear, practical actions to improve business processes and decision‑making. What You’ll Do: Provide risk guidance, oversight, and assurance services to enterprise and divisional partners based on Vanguard’s operational and strategic risk framework. Support the effectiveness of risk management within the business by setting measurable goals, raising standards, improving quality, and enhancing overall risk management efforts; monitor progress and measure success in identifying and managing risk exposure. Lead and assist the business in developing, implementing, and managing short‑ and long‑term risk management strategies aligned with department goals, objectives, and standard risk policies and procedures. Work with the business to mitigate risks and optimize process efficiency; use industry best practices to design effective controls and recommend new or improved risk management strategies; provide consultation, facilitation, and analytical support as new products, services, processes, or procedures are developed. Develop strong relationships with enterprise and divisional partners to understand their ongoing risk needs and build credibility as a thought partner. Assess the design of existing controls and recommend improvements using industry best practices; apply the risk management framework and its core concepts when discussing exposures with the business. Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Strong, sound judgment in assessing and prioritizing risks

  • Minimum of five years related work experience, with two years’ experience in risk management.
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Experience working within the fund ecosystem, such as fund accounting, investment operations, middle office, or related back‑office functions.
  • Ability to partner with and influence senior leaders, providing clear insight and thoughtful challenge when needed.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to understand complex processes and highlight the risks that matter most.
  • High self-awareness, intellectual curiosity, and a demonstrated ability to learn quickly in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to build trusted relationships across business and risk teams.
