About The Position

The Safety Coordinator is responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing company's employee safety at work. The primary purpose of this role is to ensure the organization complies with health and safety regulations and guidelines to help prevent and reduce work-related injuries. This role also includes developing and implementing a return-to-work program to support employees in safely transitioning back to work after an injury or illness.

Requirements

  • 21 years of age or older required.
  • Accident/Incident investigation methodology training and understanding.
  • Experience implementing hazard recognition programs.
  • Knowledge of workers' compensation claim coordination and return-to-work processes, including medical work restrictions, transitional duty tracking, and confidential case documentation
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulatory compliance laws.
  • Effective communication, written, and interpersonal skills with the ability to resolve conflict and reach agreement with others.
  • Ability to coach, provide guidance, and influence team members.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Must be able to sit, stand or walk for extended periods of time with frequent bending, stooping, and lifting.
  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds unassisted in the performance of specific tasks as assigned.
  • Must have the ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, kneel and balance when performing job duties in varying work areas such as confined spaces.
  • Requires some kneeling and reaching overhead.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
  • Bilingual in Spanish

Responsibilities

  • Foster a proactive and safety-conscious environment via comprehensive health & safety (H&S) management programs to improve safety performance, prevent accidents/incidents, and promote a strong safety culture throughout the property.
  • Establish and maintain necessary channels of communication with property department leaders regarding safety performance, objectives, and employee engagement.
  • Cascade H&S goals, objectives, performance metrics, standards, and best practices to team members.
  • Coordinate and manage the company’s return-to-work program for employees recovering from work-related injuries or illnesses.
  • Coordinate workers’ compensation claims and communicate with insurance carriers, medical providers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Track medical work restrictions and manage light duty assignments.
  • Assist with the planning, coordination, and support of monthly safety meetings.
  • Provide guidance and coaching and collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance team members' understanding of hazard recognition, regulatory compliance, and the importance of safety.
  • Investigate accidents/incidents, determine causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrences.
  • Ensure property compliance with all applicable OSHA regulations.
  • Assist with workers compensation management, monitoring medical status of injured team members, and implementing the return-to-work program.
  • Identify areas of opportunity regarding safe work practices and policies.
