Job Summary: This role is responsible for conducting site safety visits and providing risk management support to municipal clients. They collaborate closely with the municipalities to understand their specific needs and develop customized risk management solutions. The Risk Consultant will conduct risk assessments, identify potential risks, and provide recommendations for risk mitigation strategies. They will also provide ongoing risk management training/support and assist clients in implementing risk management programs and policies. The Risk Consultant will stay up to date on industry trends and best practices in risk management and will collaborate with internal teams to develop and deliver municipality-focused risk management resources and tools. Strong communication and relationship-building skills are essential for success in this role. Reliable transportation and physical presence in Iowa is required.

  • Must be able to travel to Acrisure offices, client office and events as needed.
  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, engineering, risk management, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with OSHA standards is preferred.
  • Previous experience in loss control, safety management, or specialized industry roles (e.g., manufacturing, construction).
  • Industry credentials are preferred. If not already obtained, willingness to obtain appropriate credentials is a must.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA, NFPA, and local building codes.
  • Excellent technical writing, communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage a travel schedule and budget, and conduct site inspections in various environments.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct safety inspections, fieldwork and site walk-throughs with municipalities throughout the state.
  • Prepare detailed, high-quality reports evaluating loss analytics and the risk quality and effectiveness of existing client controls.
  • Develop and communicate actionable, technically sound recommendations to improve safety, mitigate risk, and reduce insurance losses.
  • Advise policyholders on OSHA regulations, industry best practices, and safety protocols to help them achieve compliance.
  • Partner with underwriting teams to assess risk acceptability for new and renewal business.
  • Draft sample policy/procedure documents as needed.
  • Establish stakeholder relationships and serve as a client-facing representative of the program we represent.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve required metrics and company goals.
