About The Position

Fairview Health Services is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Adult Acute Dialysis Department at University of Minnesota East Bank. Our Dialysis Nursing team delivers direct clinical dialysis care to hemodialysis patients and peritoneal dialysis patients. Our hospital is a flagship facility of M Health Fairview and represents years of groundbreaking medical breakthroughs. Are you ready to take your love of dialysis into inpatient care? Schedule: This position will be working a 1.0FTE. This will be a day and evening rotating shift position, 10 hour shifts, every other weekend. There will be call above the FTE. There may be travel to other Fairview hospitals as needed (such as Woodwinds or Bethesda). About Our Adult Acute Dialysis Department at UMMC East Bank: Our team works closely with nephrologists, fellows, residents and nephrology PAs to assure quality dialysis therapy, and comprehensive care of ESRD patients. We also provide hemodialysis treatments and PD treatments, and we have a rotation of on-call hours so there is 24/7 dialysis services coverage. EKG, acute care experience and ESRD knowledge and critical thinking skills are important to be successful in this position. We are looking for someone who has love for the kidney, someone who knows how to problem solve, someone who is willing to learn, and someone who is dedicated to always putting the patient first.

Requirements

  • MN RN Licensure
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through Health Care Providers

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Certified Nephrology Nurse (CNN) or Certifed Dialysis Nurse (CDN) certification
  • 1 year hemodialysis experience
  • Peritoneal dialysis experience

Responsibilities

  • RN works with adult patient populations that have dialysis needs.
  • Position will be regularly scheduled for on-call shifts.
  • Assessing patient needs and identifying expected nursing outcomes;
  • Initiating dialysis therapies;
  • Completing assessments of patient during dialysis;
  • Developing an individualized nursing plan of care;
  • Implementing interventions as needed during treatment based on the plan of care;
  • Evaluating care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes;
  • Using communication strategies to achieve desirable outcomes;
  • Demonstrating the ability to advance care by utilizing standards, guidelines, care pathways, and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes; and
  • Promoting a culture of evidence based practice (EBP) by participating in a multitude of available opportunities
