The United Cardiac Medicine Unit fosters a collaborative environment committed to continuous learning. This 40 bed unit cares for cardiac patients with an average length of stay 2–5 days. The Cardiac Medicine Unit offers an excellent opportunity to build a strong foundation in both Telemetry and Med-Surg nursing. The team cares for patients undergoing cardiac procedures such as NSTEMI interventions, pacemaker placements, cardioversions, ablations, and other cardiac treatments. The unit also cares for patients admitted with medical or surgical conditions requiring continuous cardiac monitoring on hard wired telemetry. Our team values collaboration takes pride in a positive and supportive culture, and encourages professional growth. Nurses have opportunities to participate in shared governance, hospital wide committees, precepting, and serving in the charge nurse role. Nursing is the diagnosis and treatment of human response to actual or potential health problems. This includes establishing an intentional therapeutic relationship between a registered nurse and a patient and family. As a leader and the integrator of care, the professional nurse has the responsibility, authority, and accountability for planning, coordinating and evaluating the patient’s care needs. Specializes in the care of patients who suffer from various conditions of the cardiovascular system.
