About The Position

Provide care to adult or pediatric/ congenital patients undergoing cardiac surgical procedures in the Operating Room, assisting the team in maintaining a safe and sterile environment, and serves as the patient’s advocate during the intraoperative phase of care.

BLS Cert Red Cross (BLS RC) - Red Cross (RED CROSS)
Registered Nurse Compact License (RN LICENSE COMPACT) - Compact RN Multistate
Registered Nurse License (RN LICENSE) - State of Florida (FL)
Minimum of one (1) year RN experience required.
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Must be able to handle an emergency crisis and unpredictable situations.
Must take call and work irregular hours as needed.
The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.

Nice To Haves

Two (2) years of recent RN experience preferred.
One (1) year of Cardiovascular operating room experience preferred.
BSN preferred.
National Certification in area of clinical specialty preferred.

Responsibilities

Develops and implements individual plans of care in collaboration with other members of the healthcare team in accordance with the established guidelines and standards of nursing care.
Maintains storage and retrieval systems for all records.
Maintains clinical competency in all aspects of cardiac OR and provides direct patient care as needed.
Conducts pre and post-operative education.
Demonstrates the ability to perform all functions required after hours in emergency procedures.
Travels outside the OR suite and to other facilities to assist with placing adult/pediatric patients on ECMO or other mechanical assist device.
Serves as the communication liaison to family and members of the operating team.
Assess and manage critically ill patients with complex heart disease throughout the procedures.
Provides age and developmental appropriate care to adult/pediatric patients.
Perform circulating functions including monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition and managing overall nursing care of patient before, during and after procedure.
