Requirements

BSN preferred; Applicants with an Associate Degree in nursing will be considered. Per nursing guidelines, must matriculate to Bachelors of Nursing program.
Current RN licensure (Maryland or compact state) and BLS certification required at time of hire.
1-year Med/Surg nursing experience; prior research nursing experience a plus but not required—training and support will be provided.
Strong clinical assessment skills, attention to detail, and the ability to follow protocol-driven procedures.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills; ability to collaborate with research teams, physicians, and interdisciplinary staff.
Commitment to patient-centered care and research integrity.

Responsibilities

Support and implement Hopkins clinical research protocols on an inpatient unit, working closely with principal investigators, research coordinators, and multidisciplinary teams.
Provide general Med/Surg nursing care: assess patients, administer medications and study treatments, monitor clinical status, and deliver nursing interventions as needed.
Ensure safe, compliant conduct of research activities at the bedside—maintain accurate documentation, adhere to protocol requirements, and assist with data collection.
Educate and support patients and families about study procedures, risks/benefits, and care during participation in clinical trials.
Collaborate in the review and refinement of new protocols from a bedside nursing perspective, helping ensure feasibility and patient-centered implementation.
