About The Position

Facility: Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Lakeway, TX Department: Emergency Dept Status: Full Time, 36 hrs. per week Shift: Night Shift, (9am-9pm- self-scheduling with rotating weekends) Level IV (4 trauma center but we practice as a Level III due to our neuro surgery’s and keep a 24/7 neurosurgeon on. Patient Ratio: 4:1 The 23-bed Emergency Department of Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Lakeway is equipped to treat critical and life-threatening conditions in patients of all ages. The department has the additional support of Baylor Scott & White's multidisciplinary team, providing access to specialists in a full range of care, ensuring you receive quality medical care during the times you need it most care during the times you need it most. · Board-certified emergency room physicians and trauma-trained nurses · Chest Pain Team. As an official STEMI (ST-Segment elevation myocardial infarction) Designated Center, Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Lakeway is specially equipped and trained to handle the treatment of severe heart attacks. Through collaboration with area first responders and hospital personnel, we have the ability to rapidly provide patients with definitive muscle-saving treatment. · Resuscitation Center of Excellence. This designation means that we are capable of providing expert treatment of critical medical issues and post-resuscitation care. · CalmerKids Certified. This special training assures that pediatric patients have the best patient experience possible. · Specialty physicians on call 24 hours a day for general and vascular surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedics, neurology, cardiology, pediatrics, nuclear medicine, and internal medicine. Patients cared for here have 24-hour access to laboratory, X-ray and surgical services. Job Summary As a Registered Nurse, oversee patient care using a professional practice model. Responsibilities include patient assessment, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, and assessing patient responses. Secure patient travel. Know about patient needs in healthcare. Help patients and prevent issues. Follow the Texas Nursing Practice Act and delegate tasks based on condition and team competencies.

Requirements

  • Grad of an Accredited Program
  • Specialized field of study should be nursing.
  • RN license.
  • Must have BLS certification or get it within 30 days of starting in this role.
  • A deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards, as well as procedures.
  • Know nursing laws, rules, standards, and guidelines in your area.
  • Understand hospital procedures and rules.
  • Proficiency in medical terms, focusing on health, disease prevention, management, common meds, and their side effects.
  • Respect for medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights.
  • Exceptional communication skills, allowing for clear expression of thoughts both verbally and in writing.
  • Positive social skills to facilitate interactions with a diverse range of parties.
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities, driving effective critical thinking.
  • Basic computer skills, encompassing areas such as Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.

Responsibilities

  • Create, implement, and evaluate care plans.

  • You will help educate patients, families, nurses, and community members.
  • Empower them with knowledge for better healthcare choices.
  • Assess and document learning needs regularly.
  • Work with colleagues and community to create a care plan.
  • Delegate tasks carefully and follow up promptly.
  • You'll use different strategies for problem-solving with patients, families, and staff.
  • Recognize limitations and prioritize safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care planning and delivery.
  • Achieve goals through teamwork, recognize contributions, commit to growth.
  • Contribute to peers' development, show community service commitment.
