About The Position

Provides direct patient care in cardiac ICU which may include transplant patients in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization. Position requires: two (2) years of Cardiac IMCU experience or one (1) year general ICU independent practice experience with hemodynamic monitoring, ECCO Course completion and valid BLS and ACLS, from either the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross. Two (2) year commitment as a Full-Time employee with the Memorial Healthcare System required. A $10K Bonus Upon Program Completion will be paid out in two (2) equal installments. Program benefits - specialty classroom training, simulation experience, hands-on practice in the clinical environment, and bi-monthly seminars focused on professional growth, evidenced based practices and leadership.

Requirements

  • Requires critical thinking skills, effective communications skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • One (1) year of cardiovascular and/or intensive care experience required.
  • Graduate of an accredited Registered Professional Nursing program.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary personnel.
  • May precept student nurses and new hires.
  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including disposition, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
  • Evaluates learning needs of the patient and family; provides patient and family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.
  • Monitors, documents, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
