About The Position

Position Summary: Performs the primary duties of a professional nurse in assessing, planning, directing, and evaluating patient care in Acute Care. Maintains safety standards for personnel and equipment. Promotes team efforts with physicians and personnel of other departments.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing.
  • Current RN licensure by the State of Texas.
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS within 6 months required.
  • One year’s hospital experience preferred.
  • Demonstrates ability in nursing practice.
  • Requires effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills preferred.
  • Duties of position require intermittent walking, sitting, and standing.
  • Extended period of standing or walking.
  • Some bending, stooping, twisting, pulling, and reaching is required.
  • Lifting and/or moving more than 50 pounds may be needed when working with patients or equipment.
  • Occasional heavy lifting may be needed when moving or supporting patients who may suddenly become weak or helpless.
  • Visual acuity including close, distance, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The ability to hear and respond appropriately to alarms on equipment, patient call systems and instructions from physicians, staff, patients, and visitors.
  • Effective communication skills to convey clear concise instructions to staff, visitors, and patients.
  • The ability to comprehend and follow routine written and verbal instructions or directions.
  • Exposure to all patient elements including stressful emergency situations.
  • Moderate to loud noise levels.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Prior Work Experience: One year’s hospital experience preferred.
  • Basic EKG Interpretation Course and IV Therapy course preferred.
