The MICU is an 18 bed adult critical care unit located at Blake 7. Nurses on the MICU care for a variety of complex respiratory and medical patients. Notable diagnosis includes but not limited to sepsis, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, heme-oncology, cardiac, neurology, and infectious diseases such as H1N1(2005), suspect Ebola virus (2014) and the novel Corona Virus (2020). Requirements

  • BSN is strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of med/surg experience, ICU experience preferred.
  • Must be devoted to working as part of a patient care service team; strong patient care, staff development and a diverse workforce are paramount.
  • Current licensure in Massachusetts as an RN is required.
  • ACLS and CCRN certifications preferred.
  • Clinical nursing experience minimum 3 years required
  • Familiarity with the principles and skills needed for practical nursing to provide patient care and treatment.
  • Knowledgeable of the care required by respective age groups for which care is being provided.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and secure sensitive information.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills.
  • Ability to accurately screen and triage acute patients.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate, detailed reports, and records.
  • Administer medications to patients and monitor patients for reactions or side effects.
  • Record patients' medical information and vital signs.
  • Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients' conditions.
  • Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.
  • Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions.
