Build your Career. Make a Difference. Presbyterian is seeking a compassionate and skilled Mother-Baby Nurse (RN) to join our healthcare team. The Mother-Baby Nurse provides exceptional care to postpartum mothers and their newborns, ensuring a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment. New graduates have the opportunity to participate in our mandatory residency program, which includes monthly seminars led by the Nurse Residency Team, peer-to-peer debriefing sessions, support groups/mentoring, and rounding. Requirements
- Associate Degree in Nursing
- State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License
- BLS certification REQUIRED at time of hire
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive care to postpartum mothers and their newborns, including physical assessments, monitoring vital signs, and addressing any medical concerns.
- Support and educate new parents on infant care, breastfeeding, and postpartum self-care.
- Assist with initiating and maintaining breastfeeding, offering guidance and addressing challenges.
- Monitor mothers for signs of postpartum complications, such as infection, excessive bleeding, or mood disorders, and intervene as needed.
- Observe and assess newborns for signs of jaundice, feeding difficulties, or other health concerns.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians. Respond to emergencies promptly and provide critical care as necessary.
- Educate families on safety measures, including safe sleep practices and car seat safety.
