About The Position

Description Description: Work Schedule: 70% FTE, Day shift. Weekdays, plus every 9th Saturday rotation required, Sundays and Holidays off. You will work onsite at the University Hospital, American Family Children’s Hospital and East Madison Hospital locations in Madison, WI. We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) Patient & Family Educator to: Provide specialized education to adult and pediatric patients on conditions including diabetes, heart failure, anticoagulation therapy (Coumadin and Lovenox), and brief alcohol intervention to support safe and effective care. Assess patient and family learning needs and deliver individualized education on essential self-management skills such as blood glucose monitoring, insulin administration, and continuous glucose monitor use. Partner with interdisciplinary teams across inpatient units and clinics to coordinate and reinforce education and support patients and families in understanding their care plans. Utilize evidence-based education strategies, health literacy principles, and innovative teaching technologies to enhance patient and family learning. Serve as a resource and collaborator for clinical staff, reinforcing patient education and supporting a comprehensive patient and family education program across UW Health. Preferred candidates will have experience caring for patients with diabetes, heart failure, or anticoagulation therapy needs. Requirements

  • 3 years recent relevant clinical experience Required
  • Broad experience in medical/surgical and/or pediatric nursing Required
  • RN Licensure in the State of Wisconsin Upon Hire Required
