About The Position

THE UNIT: Allegheny General Hospital’s Trauma ICU is a 24 bed unit providing the highest level of trauma care, as reflected in its Level 1 Trauma Center designation. Established in 1979 as Pennsylvania’s first Trauma ICU, the unit has a rich history of pioneering trauma services. The Trauma ICU cares for critically ill patients with a wide range of traumatic injuries, including blunt and penetrating trauma, traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, and multi-system trauma, as well as post-operative surgical patients requiring intensive care management. The diverse patient population and varying acuity levels offer nurses a comprehensive and challenging experience, preparing them to excel in critical care.

GENERAL OVERVIEW: Responsible and accountable for a designated patient population for the purpose of providing care based upon enactment of the nursing process. Demonstrates clinical assessment skills and care planning skills. Provides safe and effective care for the age population served according to regulatory requirements. Professionally directs and manages the activities of the patient care delivery by the team members. Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team for the plan of care from admission through discharge. Assesses learning needs of patient and family and provides education based on age, culture and willingness to learn

Requirements

• Minimum Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
• Current State of PA RN licensure OR Current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
• CPR certification
