About The Position

Are you mechanically skilled and looking to put your talent to work on something that truly matters? Join our team in Alachua, Florida as a Rotary Head Technician , where you’ll help build the high‑precision rotary head gearboxes used in drilling rigs relied on throughout the mining industry.

Requirements

  • Ability to work in the U.S. on an indefinite basis without sponsorship
  • Proven experience in precision assembly of gearboxes, transmissions, or similar mechanical systems.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical principles, tolerances, and quality assurance practices.
  • Strong background in heating/freezing components to be press-fit together.
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators).
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and schematics.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • At least 3+ year experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Positive attitude, strong attendance, and willingness and ability to work overtime.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, and climb throughout the workday
  • Frequently lift and move items over 50 lbs
  • Must wear required PPE and successfully complete fit-for-work assessments (audiogram, lift test, physical exam)
  • Comfortable working in a loud, fast-paced manufacturing environment

Responsibilities

  • Precision Assembly: Build Rotary Head gearboxes using specialized tools and equipment, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications.
  • Heating & Pressing Components: Utilize controlled heating and pressing techniques to install gears, bearings, and shafts, ensuring proper fit and alignment.
  • Fit Tolerances: Apply knowledge of slip fit and press fit tolerances during assembly to achieve precise mechanical performance.
  • Interpret Technical Documentation: Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings for accurate assembly and troubleshooting.
  • Quality Control: Perform rigorous inspections and measurements to maintain tight tolerances and verify component integrity throughout the assembly process.
  • Problem-Solving: Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues during assembly and testing phases with minimal supervision.
  • Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to identify process improvements and implement best practices for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Tool & Equipment Maintenance: Properly maintain and calibrate tools and equipment to ensure consistent performance.
  • Compliance: Adhere to all safety standards, company policies , and industry regulations.
