About The Position

As a Rubber Prep Operator, you will prepare, cut, and weigh rubber materials to ensure they meet our quality standards before they go to production. You’ll work in a fast-paced environment where safety and accuracy are the top priorities.

Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: At least 2 years in manufacturing (rubber experience preferred).
  • Skills: Good with your hands, able to fix minor machine issues, and great attention to detail.
  • Standing and Walking: Regularly required to stand and walk for extended periods, up to 8-10 hours per day, on concrete or other hard surfaces.
  • Lifting: Frequently lift and/or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds independently.
  • Bending/Stooping: Frequently required to bend, stoop, crouch, or kneel to access materials
  • Reaching: Frequently reach with hands and arms, including overhead reaching, to retrieve or place items on shelves.
  • Grasping/Handling: Regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, and to grasp brooms and mops.
  • Visual Acuity: Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus to read labels, packing slips, and operate equipment.
  • Process Control: By following established procedures and monitoring material quality, the operator ensures consistent and conforming product output.
  • Documentation: Accurate record-keeping supports traceability and allows for analysis and improvement of processes.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identifying and reporting quality issues contributes to the organization's efforts to improve its quality management system.

Responsibilities

  • Operate Machinery: Set up and run industrial machines (extruders and cutters).
  • Prepare Materials: Follow specific recipes to weigh and measure raw rubber and additives. Ability to safely and efficiently handle raw materials (rubber bales, chemicals, fillers, oils) and finished rubber compounds. This includes lifting, moving, and storing materials.
  • Mixing and Compounding: Knowledge of rubber compounding principles, including: Understanding formulations and recipes. Accurate measurement and weighing of ingredients. Proper mixing techniques to achieve desired properties.
  • Check Quality: Inspect materials for defects and use tools like scales and calipers to ensure exact measurements.
  • Stay Safe: Keep your work area clean (5S) and follow all safety rules (OSHA/LOTO).
  • Keep Records: Log your work, material usage, and production numbers accurately.
  • Maintain Equipment: Perform basic cleaning and minor maintenance on your tools.
  • Machine Operation: Proficiency in operating various rubber processing equipment, including: mixers, calendars, extruders, presses
