About The Position

The incumbent is responsible for the provision of outpatient clinical services, consultation and education services within the assigned program site. He/she provides assessment, diagnosis and treatment through a variety of modalities and procedures for those individuals suffering from mental illness, emotional disorders, co-occurring disorders, substance abuse and developmental disabilities. He/she provides crisis intervention, pre-screening for hospitalization, and referral for community support services. He/she may provide supervision to staff as per professional qualifications. The incumbent will participate in State and local activities to enhance the coordination and development of comprehensive substance abuse services. He/she is responsible for the monitoring of state and federal guidelines as applied to the substance abuse services delivery to assure compliance. He/she is directly responsible and accountable to the Clinic Executive Director. OSHA regulations apply to this position. This position is designated as a Level Two with regard to the HIPAA Privacy Rule. The position is exempt for FLSA.

Requirements

  • Graduate level degree in the human services field is required
  • Licensed by the Virginia Board of Health Professions as a LCP, LCSW, or LPC.
  • Previous work experience with the mentally disabled or substance abusing population
  • Mental illness, substance use disorders and co-occurring disorders including disability diagnosis, crisis and clinical intervention, behavior management, treatment management, clinical assessment and diagnosis, psycho-tropic medications and effects.
  • Community organization principles.
  • DSM V, diagnostic categories and application to assessment and treatment planning.
  • Psychotropic medications, uses and side effects.
  • Case management functions and service delivery.
  • Regulations relevant to service delivery and third party payers.
  • Supervision and management principles.
  • Administration and personnel management.
  • Regulatory requirements of state and federal agencies related to substance abuse treatment(s).
  • The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) and the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) security and privacy regulations as they relate to the protection of confidential medical information and personal health information as required by law, professional ethics and accreditation requirements.
