About The Position

We are seeking a Safety and Asset Protection manager to work in the Blairs, Virginia, warehouse. The Safety and Asset Protection Manager is responsible for leading and managing all safety, health, environmental, and asset protection initiatives at our Distribution and Manufacturing facility. This role ensures a safe working environment by developing, implementing, and enforcing safety protocols and loss prevention strategies. The manager will collaborate with various departments to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, drive a culture of safety, and protect the company’s assets.

Requirements

  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant safety and environmental regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess risks and implement effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train, influence, and lead employees at all levels.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and safety management software.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
  • 5-7 years of experience in safety management, preferably within a distribution and/or manufacturing environment.
  • Valid State Driver’s License required.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), or similar are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Safety Program Management:
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure a safe working environment across the distribution and manufacturing operations.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory standards.
  • Lead the Safety Committee, facilitating regular meetings, and ensuring active participation and accountability across all levels of the organization.
  • Manage the investigation process for all accidents, incidents, and near misses, ensuring thorough documentation and corrective action plans are implemented to prevent future occurrences.
  • Oversees Site Drug Screening.
  • Training and Development:
  • Design and deliver safety training programs for all employees, including new hire orientation, ongoing safety education, and specialized training for high-risk activities.
  • Maintain up-to-date training records and ensure all employees are current with required certifications and training programs.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources and Operations leaders to create and implement safety training that is tailored to specific departmental needs and job functions.
  • Asset Protection:
  • Develop and implement strategies to safeguard the company’s assets, including physical property, inventory, and equipment.
  • Monitor and analyze security reports, incident logs, and loss prevention data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Oversee the implementation of security systems, access controls, and other protective measures to prevent theft, vandalism, and other asset-related risks.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
  • Ensure the facility’s operations comply with all local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and compliance-related activities, preparing reports for internal and external stakeholders as needed.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory inspections and audits, ensuring that any issues are promptly addressed and resolved.
  • Emergency Response and Crisis Management:
  • Develop and maintain the facility’s emergency response plans, ensuring all employees are trained and equipped to respond to emergencies such as fires, chemical spills, or natural disasters.
  • Lead the facility’s emergency response team, coordinating drills, training, and real-time crisis management efforts.
  • Collaborate with local emergency services to ensure effective communication and coordination during emergencies.
  • Leadership and Collaboration:
  • Provide leadership and direction to the Safety and Asset Protection team, including any direct reports and cross-functional partners.
  • Work closely with Operations, Human Resources, and other departments to integrate safety and asset protection into all aspects of facility operations.
  • Promote a culture of safety and responsibility, engaging employees at all levels in safety initiatives and fostering continuous improvement.
