About The Position

This position supports daily safety and security operations across the Ceiba, Vieques, and Culebra terminals. This position provides field oversight of contracted security personnel, reinforces compliance with company protocols, supports incident response and information gathering, and assists with safety and security drills, training activities, and operational follow-up. The role is intended to strengthen consistency, accountability, and communication in the Island Region while supporting the Safety and Security Manager (FSO) with field supervision, documentation, and coordination efforts.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in security, safety, terminal operations, or a related field.
  • Ability to work in field operations and manage sensitive situations with professionalism.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to document incidents and prepare clear reports.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, integrity, and impartial judgment.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regularly between Ceiba, Vieques, and Culebra.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
  • TWIC card (active) or ability to obtain one.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in maritime terminal operations or ferry operations.
  • Familiarity with contracted security operations
  • Familiarity with basic U.S. Coast Guard/MTSA/33 CFR 105
  • Basic knowledge of OSHA-related safety practices and PPE enforcement.
  • FEMA/ICS certifications (e.g., IS-100, IS-700)

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day field oversight of contracted security guards assigned to the Island Region terminals (Ceiba, Vieques, and Culebra).
  • Reinforce compliance with security procedures, access control practices, and established terminal protocols.
  • Monitor guard performance, professionalism, post coverage, and adherence to instructions.
  • Help ensure security-related concerns are communicated and escalated appropriately through the chain of command.
  • Assist in de-escalating tense situations involving passengers or visitors, while helping ensure company employees follow established protocols.
  • Conduct regular walkthroughs to identify unsafe conditions, hazards, or deficiencies in terminal areas.
  • Help ensure employees and contracted personnel use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when applicable.
  • Report safety concerns, hazards, and deficiencies to the Safety and Security Manager and/or appropriate department for follow-up.
  • Support a consistent safety culture by reinforcing compliance and accountability in daily operations.
  • Respond to safety and security incidents assigned and assist with on-site coordination.
  • Support incident-related information gathering, including collecting facts, statements, and documentation as directed.
  • Assist with review of CCTV footage when needed for internal follow-up, incident review, or assigned investigations.
  • Support internal and external investigative requests, as directed by supervisors, while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Ensure incidents and relevant observations are properly reported and documented through the appropriate channels.
  • Prepare and/or assist with incident reports, field observations, inspection notes, and related documentation.
  • Review guard logs and reports for completeness, accuracy, and proper reporting.
  • Maintain organized records and submit documentation in a timely manner.
  • Assist in identifying patterns or recurring issues requiring corrective action or additional training.
  • Assist in the preparation and execution of required safety and security drills and training activities.
  • Support training efforts for contracted guards and employees as assigned, including reinforcement of procedures and expectations.
  • Assist with training records, sign-in sheets, and other documentation related to drills and training sessions.
  • Help identify training needs observed in the field and communicate recommendations to the Safety and Security Manager.
  • Coordinate and communicate professionally with Guest Services, terminal operations, vessel personnel, facilities/maintenance, and other departments as needed.
  • Address operational concerns objectively and consistently, without favoritism.
  • Support implementation of department directives and follow-up actions in the Island Region terminals.
