PURPOSE OF POSITION: A Safety and Security Manager at Catholic Charities: Mainsafety & security team schedule, schedules safety & security associates to work shifts and locations. Oversees safety & security coverage at all locations. Integrates the leadership model in daily activities, including spot coaching, supervision, and training. Assists the Director in tracking team compliance with all training and certifications. Approves safety & security team timecards, PAL/EIB requests, and conducts employee evaluations and supervisions. Ensures that all safety & security associates have completed all reports, incident reports (IRs), ETO entries, and other documentation in a timely and professional manner. Serves as a member of the Safety Team and is trained on the Emergency Operations Plan. Politely welcomes, greets, and assists all participants and visitors, providing routine information or directing them to the appropriate staff/programs. Conducts internal and external patrols throughout the facility to monitor and ensure safety. Monitors surveillance cameras and public areas to ensure no improper conduct or unauthorized persons are inside the facility and/or on agency property. Adheres to Agency confidentiality and HIPAA expectations. Responds and assists as appropriate with any emergencies in the building or on the grounds. Maintains current knowledge of ongoing events and changes by reading reports, entries, and databases. Maintains shelter rules and standards uniformly and consistently. Responds appropriately to needs and crises, such as mediating basic interpersonal problems between participants and summoning emergency personnel. Communicate with other staff to resolve problems with individual participants. Provides appropriate information and referrals. Keeps the Director informed of shelter developments. Models Catholic Charities’ commitment to treating all persons with respect and dignity. Maintains confidentiality of client and agency information. On call for consultation and intervention after hours and on weekends. Regular and predictable attendance. Completes security guard training and licensing. Complete all mandatory training as stated by the agency or supervisor. Supports implementation and oversight of security technology, including access control, alarms, and surveillance systems. Collaborates with police departments on CPTED (Crime Prevention through Environmental Design) reports or similar assessments to be completed at least once every 2 years, and leads to the implementation of changes. Serves as the primary point of contact for law enforcement, emergency responders, and security vendors as needed. Coordinates emergency drills and preparedness activities with internal teams and external partners.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in supervision.
  • Experience/knowledge in security management, de-escalation, crisis management, and safety preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively within the framework of Catholic teachings.
  • Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to effectively lead and motivate staff through the application of Agency values.
  • Intermediate knowledge of computers to input data, create and generate reports, and maintain communications.
  • Knowledge of the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and the appropriate techniques and practices for the client population.
  • Ability to interact effectively as a team member and independently with Agency staff and with a diverse client base.
  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from an accredited four-year college or university in a related field preferred; and three to five years of related safety or security experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Security Guard license if in the City/County of Denver. Must be obtained within 60 days of employment.
