SBCS Corporation operates a 24/7 year-round confidential, emergency shelter program for victims of domestic violence and their children. Services include 24-hour emergency shelter, food, transportation, 24-hour crisis hotline, psychological support and peer counseling, referrals to community resources, and community education and outreach. The program also provides transitional housing, rapid rehousing, and other housing support for victims of domestic violence and their children.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Excellent oral, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Detail oriented
  • Must possess strong critical thinking, problem solving skills and handle crises effectively.
  • Ability to work with a diverse population, possess cultural competency, and maintain appropriate boundaries with clients.
  • Experience in working with families impacted by domestic violence and crisis intervention.
  • Motivated, self-starter and proactive team member
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Must be fluent in English, including ability to read, write and comprehend
  • Ability to work with a diverse population, possess cultural sensitivity, and maintain appropriate boundaries with clients.

Responsibilities

  • Front desk oversight during night shift
  • Responsible for completing hourly walk- through of the property as well as conducting and documenting periodic safety inspections.
  • Responsible for nightly safety checks process.
  • Complete weekly inventory log
  • Clean up and wipe down communal areas such as kitchens, laundry rooms, childcare rooms, study rooms, therapy rooms, staff break room, and other areas as needed.
  • Assist in the preparation of units for new move-ins.
  • Effectively communicate necessary information to management and/or daytime staff.
  • Follow and enforce shelter guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Support and assist clients with their needs as they arise (ex. questions, hygiene supplies, cleaning supplies, bedding, food, and more).
  • Maintain safety and security of shelter property and report concerns to management.
  • Ensure the privacy and safety of other clients by not confirming the identity of other guests, and by not allowing anyone other than clients, staff, and law-enforcement on the premises.
  • Maintain cleanliness of shelter through performing housekeeping tasks as outlined in the task checklist.
  • Attend all agency required meetings and training.
  • As other duties assigned.
