About The Position

ARG PETRO, a well-established wholesale fuel and lubricant company with over 82 years in the industry, is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Safety Clerk to join our Safety Department. This position is ideal for a candidate with experience in transportation compliance, safety documentation, and administrative support, who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about supporting workplace safety and regulatory integrity.

Requirements

  • Experience in transportation safety, compliance, or a related administrative role preferred (2+ years).
  • Familiarity with DOT, OSHA, and EPA regulatory requirements are preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using compliance or fleet management software is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain incident logs and documentation to ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and EPA regulations.
  • Submit, track, and audit Driver Qualification Files (DQFs) and ensure all required driver documents are up to date (CDLs, medical cards, MVRs, etc.).
  • Keep accurate records of safety meetings, training, and employee attendance.
  • Maintain and renew fleet insurance, registrations, and inspection documentation; distribute updated documents to relevant locations.
  • Register vehicles with the Department of Motor Vehicles and manage apportioned plates and trip sheets.
  • Track and follow up on driver violations, roadside inspections, and associated fines/payments.
  • Manage files for all Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
  • Order and manage department safety supplies and inventory.
  • Audit driver logs for DOT compliance.
  • Conduct background checks, MVRs, and Clearinghouse queries for all drivers.
  • Run and reconcile IFTA inventory balance reports monthly.
  • Coordinate drug screenings, maintain testing records, and ensure timely result tracking.
  • Maintain a log of safety equipment issued to employees and new hires.
  • Ensure surveillance camera systems are functional at all company locations.
  • Maintain an updated criteria log for driver eligibility regarding company-issued cash cards.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
