Requirements

  • Knowledge of health and safety management systems - Has a good understanding of the principles and can independently use the knowledge
  • Understanding of all major governmental regulatory programs and health and safety legal requirements - Has a good understanding of the principles and can independently use the knowledge.
  • Understanding of ergonomic and industrial hygiene principles
  • Understanding of incident investigation, root cause analysis and injury and illness reporting requirements
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and factory operations - Has a good understanding of the principles and can independently use the knowledge
  • Skill in interpersonal communications, negotiation, and conflict resolution - Has a good understanding of the principles and can independently use the knowledge
  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Science, or equivalent experience
  • Must be 18 years of age or older to apply

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of experience in Occupational Health and Safety profession in manufacturing environment
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing operation, manufacturing engineering, or industrial engineering environment

Responsibilities

  • Compiles and analyzes necessary data, documentation and correspondence to comply with Health and Safety Management System (HSMS) requirements
  • Develops recommendations for health and safety processes/programs to meet the John Deere health and safety standards and comply with applicable laws and regulations. Participates in unit strategic planning process
  • Coordinates safety audits and risk assessments to identify noncompliance with John Deere standards, processes and applicable laws and regulations. Manages corrective action and preventative action processes
  • Leads incident investigations and ergonomic reviews and assist in determining effective corrective action
  • Reviews new products, equipment and processes for potential hazards and compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards. Making recommendations if necessary prior to introduction
  • Utilizes acquired knowledge to respond to both internal and external questions and requests for information relevant to safety and health issues
  • Develops, directs and conducts safety presentations and training
  • May assist or manage workers compensation administration and return to work programs
