The Safety Intern will support workplace health and safety initiatives by assisting with inspections, hazard assessments, training support, and safety program improvements. This role partners with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to strengthen compliance, reduce risk, and promote a strong safety culture.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a safety related discipline
  • Must be safety conscious, dependable, and motivated
  • Will take an active role in the company’s safety initiatives
  • Must be a self-motivated, strong work ethic individual that is willing to work with minimal supervision
  • High-level verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal skills
  • Capable of working in an office or shop environment where sitting, standing, kneeling, or bending may be required. Will be exposed to an industrial plant environment which may include dust and heat.
  • Ability to wear PPE while in the Plant (Safety Glasses, Safety Toe Shoes, Hardhats, Earplugs, High-Viz Vest or Shirts, other as required)

Responsibilities

  • Assist with safety inspections, audits, and hazard identification
  • Create and update LOTOTO sheets and confined space hazard assessments
  • Develop Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) for high-risk or frequently performed tasks
  • Support incident reporting, near-miss tracking, and safety data analysis
  • Assist with safety training and emergency response drills
  • Support environmental safety evaluations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve safety programs and procedures, including contractor safety
