About The Position

The Safety Program Manager plays a critical leadership role in developing and deploying best-in-class safety and industrial hygiene programs, with a strong focus on hazardous energy interventions, including beryllium exposure management programs. This position collaborates with Elmore, Delta, Tucson and Shoemakersville as well as strategic EHS teams with OSHA compliance and develop and adopt safety best practices. The Safety Program Manager co-leads the industrial hygiene steering committee and assist with product stewardship efforts. Provides safety and industrial hygiene support on new processes. Assume a leadership role in safety-related CapEx strategy and prioritization. You will have the opportunity to: Responsible for overseeing facility compliance with OSHA and Materion policy encompassing the breadth of safety. Partner with site leadership to conduct gap assessment and develop improvement plans for the site Industrial Hygiene and Safety programs. Support and assist management with incident investigations, including root cause analysis, corrective action development, and closure verification. Provide health and safety support as a member of the site EHS teams, as needed. Lead and develop a team of EHS technicians and safety professionals. Serve as a subject matter expert of OSHA compliance and safety best practices to facility leadership at Elmore. Participate on cross-site teams to help shape and steer corporate safety policies and programs. Co‑lead the site Industrial Hygiene program, including development and execution of exposure monitoring and sampling strategies. Act as an approver and technical advisor for process changes and new process implementations. Provide safety and industrial hygiene support for new processes, equipment, and operational changes.

Requirements

  • BS in an EHS field and 10+ years of experience or a Master’s degree and 4 years of experience.
  • Experience designing and implementing safety interventions, such as industrial ventilation and transition zones
  • Experience developing policies and procedures based on OSHA beryllium related regulatory requirements and corporate guidelines.
  • Proficient in data verification, correlation and preparation of EHS reports
  • Can perform calculations, data entry, data analysis, field monitoring and report writing
  • The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology which comes under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR). The candidate selected will have to qualify as either a U.S. citizen, a U.S. National, a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., a Person Admitted into the U.S. as an Asylee or Refugee., a National of a country that is not prohibited from having access to U.S. controlled technology (via a letter of assurance), or a Person to be approved for an export license by the governing agency whose technology comes under its jurisdiction. Please understand that any job offer that requires approval of an export license will be conditional on Materion’s determination that it will be able to obtain an export license in a time frame consistent with Materion’s business requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with ventilation design, machine guarding implementation and industrial hygiene program implementation.
  • Experience in Taproot assessments or other root cause analysis tools
  • Familiarity with Human Operating Performance based safety
  • Experience leading a team of safety professionals or technicians
  • 3+ years experience in a Process Safety Management Regulated Environment
