About The Position

The Safety Representative will support underground utility construction operations, including trenching and excavation activities. This role is field-based and involves traveling to local job sites to conduct safety visits, audits, and inspections. Standard auditing expectations include up to three site visits per day across local projects.

Requirements

• OSHA 30 Construction
• Underground utility, trenching, and excavation safety experience
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Patience and the ability to gain crew buy-in to site safety culture

Responsibilities

• Conduct site safety visits and audits on underground utility and excavation projects
• Review site procedures and ensure compliance with safety policies
• Verify proper PPE usage and adherence to JHAs and AHAs
• Identify safety deficiencies and coach crews on corrective actions
• Provide formal safety training and toolbox talks as needed
• Travel between local job sites to perform inspections and field observations
• Support trenching, excavation, and turnkey underground utility operations
• Communicate safety findings with supervisors and project leadership
• Oversee crews ranging from 4-30 workers, depending on site
