About The Position

From the moment a seed is planted through to harvest, crops need to be protected from weeds, insects and diseases as well as droughts and floods, heat and cold. Syngenta Crop Protection is headquartered in Switzerland. The purpose of the Safety and Security Lead is to ensure the protection of people, assets, information, and operations from physical threats, hazards, and risks while maintaining regulatory compliance. This role will support key outcomes in both Security and Occupational Safety. This role is approximately 50% Security and 50% Occupational Safety.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Safety, Security or related discipline or equivilent experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in Safety and Security compliance within the chemical/petrochemical manufacturing facilities or refining preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Leadership experience for large facility of 800+ employees is desirable
  • Professional Certification in Security or Safety is desirable

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Site Security Officer (SSO)
  • Oversee Contract Security function and supervision
  • Protect physical assets, facilities, and personnel
  • Manage access control systems and surveillance
  • Conduct security risk assessments
  • Implement cybersecurity awareness programs
  • Coordinate with law enforcement when needed
  • Oversee visitor management protocols
  • Respond to security incidents
  • Manage crisis and business continuity planning
  • Develop and implement security written programs and associated training
  • Collaborate with Regional Security Lead and legal support
  • Manage Security cost center
  • Represent Site at Louisiana Chemical Association (LCA)
  • Design and facilitate periodic Security drills
  • Support Occupational Safety Group in compliance with OSHA, EPA, and local regulations
  • Develop and implement Occupational Safety programs
  • Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses
  • Investigate incidents and near-misses
  • Deliver safety training and awareness programs
  • Monitor workplace conditions and compliance with company and regulatory requirements
  • Track safety KPIs and metrics
