About The Position

The Safety & Security Operations Manager leads PPSWO’s organization-wide safety, emergency preparedness, and security operations programs. This role is responsible for developing policies, delivering staff training, supporting compliance readiness, and coordinating safety planning across all health centers in Dayton and Cincinnati. This position is operational and programmatic in nature and plays a key role in creating safe, welcoming, patient-centered environments for staff, patients, vendors, and guests. The ideal candidate brings experience in healthcare operations, site assessments, training, or emergency preparedness and approaches safety through empathy, professionalism, and collaboration. This role is designed for candidates with experience leading safety programs and operational readiness efforts rather than post-based or uniformed security assignments.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in healthcare operations, safety programs, operational security oversight, emergency preparedness, or related fields.
  • Experience developing policies, delivering training, and leading organizational safety initiatives.
  • Familiarity with security technology platforms (access control, cameras, visitor management, mass notification).
  • Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills with the ability to brief senior leaders clearly.
  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm, professional, and decisive in high-stress situations.
  • Commitment to PPSWO’s mission, values, and patient-centered care model.
  • Experience limited to security guard or post-based assignments, without program leadership responsibilities, does not meet the requirements of this role.
  • Prior law enforcement or military experience may be considered only when paired with healthcare, training, or administrative leadership experience.

Responsibilities

  • Safety Programs, Training & Emergency Preparedness Lead development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of PPSWO safety policies, site assessments, and emergency response procedures.
  • Design and deliver staff training on safety protocols, de-escalation, and emergency response.
  • Coordinate emergency preparedness drills and tabletop exercises across health centers.
  • Partner with leadership and Human Resources on proactive safety initiatives and organizational resilience planning.
  • Compliance & Risk Management Conduct regular safety and site assessments across all PPSWO facilities and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain documentation for inspections, audits, and accreditation processes.
  • Track safety incidents, lead investigations, and support corrective action planning as needed.
  • Monitor local and national safety trends and assess potential impact on PPSWO operations.
  • Track opposition activity and develop response plans to mitigate organizational risk.
  • Staff & Patient Safety Oversee access control systems, surveillance equipment, and alarm systems to ensure proper functionality.
  • Respond to incidents involving disruptive behavior, threats, or safety concerns using de-escalation-focused approaches.
  • Partner with departments to address safety needs for on-site and off-site events.
  • Ensure safety practices are effective, culturally responsive, and aligned with PPSWO’s values.
  • Physical Security & Facilities Coordination Collaborate with facilities and IT partners on physical security upgrades and improvements.
  • Prepare prioritized safety and security enhancement proposals for senior leadership.
  • Coordinate with local emergency services when necessary.
  • Leadership & Operations Participate in developing the safety and security operations budget to align resources with organizational priorities.
  • Represent PPSWO in safety-related committees or task forces as appropriate.
  • Manage on-call rotation for safety response and recruit/train staff for participation.
  • Provide regular reporting to leadership on safety trends, incidents, and preparedness status.
