About The Position

Gypsum Solutions Sales Representative will build awareness of assigned USG products in assigned territory. The representative will effectively manage the sales of select mineral and specialty plasters used in industrial markets, performance flooring, fireproofing, cements, construction, and dental markets within a multi-state sales territory. This exciting opportunity in a fast-paced environment is located in and will handle the Texas and Oklahoma territory. Candidate must be based in Texas, preferably near a metro area. Candidate will have opportunity to demonstrate proven relationship building skills with multiple customer levels, understanding multiple channels of product distribution and implementing different business strategies for each. Candidate will effectively communicate/receive technical information demonstrate solution-based selling in both commodity and non-commodity markets, and execute product demonstration skills in this role. Job responsibilities include providing sales and service support to an existing customer base, developing new business that is profitable and strategic, and communicating marketplace trends that may impact strategic plans, competitive business, the existing customer base, and emerging opportunities. The representative will interact with other USG disciplines (customer service, quality, manufacturing, transportation, credit, and research) to ensure that customer needs are met in the critical areas of service and quality and accurate accounting. The representative will conduct USG business with integrity, subscribing to a high level of ethics, economics, and safety. A successful representative will create strong relationships with key contacts throughout the customer base and within USG.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent field sales experience
  • Travel time up to and over 30-50% servicing respective territory and within the assigned region
  • Five years of prior sales or consultative technical support experience preferred.
  • Building products industry and field experience.
  • Experience with territory management.
  • Strong business acumen and professionalism.
  • Strong written and verbal communication/interpersonal skills, including negotiating, presenting, professional selling, conflict resolution, and relationship building.
  • Self-motivated with strong desire to seek counsel routinely from more experienced team members.
  • Effective and independent time and scheduling management of activities.
  • Ability to set and self-manage priorities to ensure maximization of account development for both existing and new accounts.
  • Proven ability to identify goal impacting decision makers and relationships.
  • Solid computer aptitude (MS Office/Outlook, internet prospecting.)
  • Strong technical expertise, extensive industry knowledge.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in listed markets is a plus.
  • Salesforce experience preferred.
  • Salesforce.com power user preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a technically oriented sales expert and business consultant to customers, specifiers, and influencers within the markets served by Gypsum Solutions.
  • Meet sales and profit goals by working closely with customers, specifiers, plants, warehouses, customer service, marketing, logistics and influencers in the implementation of sales strategies, including prioritizing identified targets within the region to develop profitable new business through sales to competitive accounts and new market applications.
  • Understand and monitor territory financials in key and identify irregularities.
  • Work within the larger USG organization to ensure appropriate information is shared effectively for planning capacity, optimizing logistics, maintaining a high level of service, and insuring a full and accurate accounting of business transactions.
  • Using Salesforce, plan and prioritize sales activities by monitoring specification activity, conducting prospecting, recording activity and contact detail, and creating/executing key account plans.
  • Absorb, distill, and share technical subject matter related to the Gypsum Solutions product portfolios and systems with all key influencers, including manufacturers, specifiers, contractors and distribution.
  • Manages, organizes, and coordinates customer shipments with USG plants and terminals, along with transportation companies, to provide the highest level of service to customers.
  • Actively builds strong business relationships with customers, peers, logistics providers, and management, to maximize effectiveness in the position.
  • Maintains confidentiality of privileged company and employee information.
  • Recommends changes in products, service, and policy by evaluating results and competitive developments.
