About The Position

The Company is an industry leader in the distribution, installation, maintenance, and repair of a complete range of commercial, industrial, and residential door, docking and security products. In 2026, DH Pace is celebrating its 100th anniversary in business. DH Pace Company, Inc., the leader in the door industry, aspires to hire a Sales Trainee with our National Accounts Division in Olathe, Kansas. The Sales Trainee will rotate through different elements of sales and product training through guided development and on-the-job learning. This person will have the opportunity to gain exposure in different areas of the business, work with key partners, and receive formalized mentorship as they develop sales-related skills that encompass all aspects of the outside sales processes. This may include, but is not limited to, finding customer prospects and leads, timely preparation of sales proposals, estimates, and contracts, nurturing relationships with new and existing customers, and learning Company procedures, resources, and systems. Upon successful completion of training, the sales trainee will be eligible for a sales role based on their aptitude and the Company’s business needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 1-2 years of sales experience, relevant experience in the door and dock industry, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Must be highly self-motivated and target-driven with a proven track record in outstanding sales achievements.
  • Excellent communication skills and must be able to interact professionally with contacts, internal and external, at all levels and possess a high sense of urgency with exceptional problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work efficiently in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Strong aptitude for technical applications and mechanical systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Learn the line of business, including developing technical proficiency with the products and services offered, through on the job training and working with sales and operational team members.
  • Participate in the sales process from prospecting to closing deals, including customer relationship management and post-sale support.
  • Support and assist with sales projects and initiatives including, but not limited to: assisting with coordinating tasks developing and preparing timely and accurate sales proposals, estimates, and contracts following up on open quotes tracking progress and ensuring timely completion of deliverables preparing documentation required for all phases of the sales process
  • Establish, develop, and maintain relationships with customers. Understand their needs, design, develop, and deliver solutions, address inquiries, and provide information about products and services. Promote all commercial products and services offered as well as other applicable lines of business to current and potential customers.
  • Capture feedback from customers to identify areas for improvement and enhance the overall customer experience.
  • Take the initiative to learn new sales techniques, tools, and technologies that can contribute to success in the sales role.
  • Prepare a weekly activity report for the sales manager.
  • Learn the Company’s Customer Relationship Management System (CRM). Assist with daily updates and maintenance of the CRM.
  • Participate in workshops, programs, and other learning opportunities to enhance sales skills and industry knowledge. Actively engage in the Company’s training sessions, including the Learning Management System (LMS), to understand the Company's products, services, sales techniques, and processes.
  • Actively seek feedback from mentors, supervisors, and peers to enhance your skills and performance.
  • Ability to work overtime as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
