About The Position

Under the supervision of the Chief Technology Officer, the Salesforce Platform Architect will serve as Victor’s primary owner of the Salesforce ecosystem, with a strong focus on Nonprofit Cloud, platform sustainability, and data strategy. This role is responsible for owning Salesforce's evolution at Victor, including backlog prioritization, roadmap planning, upgrade readiness, and integration strategy while building internal capability and reducing long-term reliance on external vendors. The Salesforce Platform Architect acts as the enterprise decision-maker for Salesforce architecture, balancing mission needs, technical risk, cost, and long-term maintainability.

Requirements

  • Salesforce Architect-level certification or demonstrated architectural ownership of complex Salesforce implementation, specifically within Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud.

  • Proven ability to own, manage, and deliver backlogs, roadmaps, and ongoing platform projects.
  • Experience working in agile or sprint-based delivery models.
  • Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Must possess a valid California driver's license, personal automobile insurance and driving record that meets the standards outlined in the Agency’s Policy: Motor Vehicle Operating Standards.
  • Must be physically and mentally fit in accordance with the Agency’s Policy: Physical Fitness Standards and Examinations.
  • Must be willing to complete a Tuberculosis (TB) test and drug screening test.
  • Must be willing to complete a personal background investigation conducted by the State of California.
  • Must be willing to work within a culturally integrated workplace and be willing to respect human differences based upon protected classes as defined by state, federal and local laws, or any other condition that distinguishes people from one another.
  • Have an adequate range of body motion and mobility to work in an office or outdoor environment including standing and walking (even and uneven surfaces), alternating between standing and sitting for extended periods of time, bending, kneeling, twisting, reaching balancing and occasional carrying and lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally, and up to 10 pounds frequently.
  • Physically able to walk up and down stairs routinely.
  • Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time in a vehicle (may be up to 100 miles driving distance).
  • Requires the ability to utilize computer and telephone systems, which includes the coordination of eye and hand and fine manipulation by the hands and fingers for typing, writing and working with files.

Responsibilities

  • Salesforce Platform Ownership & Architecture
  • Owns the technical and architectural direction of Salesforce, with emphasis on Nonprofit Cloud, data models, and security.
  • Defines and maintains Salesforce platform standards to ensure scalability, maintainability, and data integrity.
  • Serves as Victor’s internal authority on how Salesforce is designed, configured, and extended.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable regulations (HIPAA adjacency, state privacy laws, internal data policies).
  • Partners with IT/security on audits, access reviews, and incident response readiness.
  • Configures flows, validation rules, and data models directly.
  • Reviews code and configuration written by vendors.
  • Occasionally performs administrative-level support or escalation work.
  • Backlog, Roadmap & Delivery Discipline
  • Owns Salesforce intake, backlog prioritization, and roadmap planning in partnership with IT, programs, and administration.
  • Ensures Salesforce work is planned and delivered using agile practices by defining deployment approach, testing standards, sandbox strategy, and release process.
  • Leads Salesforce upgrade planning and readiness, including seasonal releases, platform updates, and impacts on data and staff.
  • Balances short-term needs with long-term platform health.
  • Data Strategy & Integrations
  • Partners with leadership to translate business questions into data models and dashboards.
  • Ensures Salesforce reporting supports operational, compliance, and executive decision-making.
  • Collaborates with the EHR (SmartCare) team, finance, and analytics stakeholders to ensure data flows are intentional and well-documented.
  • Guides Salesforce’s role in Victor’s broader data ecosystem, including reporting, analytics, and future use of Tableau and Salesforce Data Cloud.
  • Assists in establishing data governance practices that guarantee accurate reporting, privacy, and compliance.
  • Team Enablement & Knowledge Building
  • Works hands-on with internal teams and partners to build internal Salesforce knowledge and confidence among stakeholders, developers, and support staff.
  • Creates and maintains clear documentation, patterns, and processes that reduce reliance on individual expertise.
  • Supports staff in understanding why Salesforce is built the way it is, not just how.
  • Vendor & Partner Leadership
  • Serves as Victor’s primary technical partner with Salesforce vendors and implementation partners.
  • Directs vendor work to align with Victor’s roadmap, standards, and long-term platform strategy.
  • Evaluates when Salesforce work should be performed internally vs externally to balance speed, cost, and sustainability.
