About The Position

Satellite Communications Network Engineer, Mid The Opportunity: A well-designed network is critical to move data and enable warfighters to achieve their missions, but how can an organization make sure their network will fit their evolving needs? Crafting the right network with the right equipment and software requires a combination of technical skill and careful planning. That’s why we need you, a network engineer who knows how to deliver satellite communications (SATCOM) network needs. As a SATCOM Network Engineer on our team, you’ll use your skills in network design and architecture, system interoperability, network transport layers, multi-protocol label switching, gateway protocol, and virtual routing and forwarding to help support the nation’s defense and respond to evolving adversaries. You’ll be a crucial part of a team charged with developing, upgrading, and sustaining a worldwide SATCOM system and increase security, reliability, and availability for mission-critical network systems. You’ll apply your knowledge in routing and switching, integration of encryption gear, network design and architecture, system interoperability, IP engineering, network transport layers, multi-protocol label switching, gateway protocol, and virtual routing and forwarding as you join our team of problem-solvers to help the DoD evolve and deploy new capabilities and technologies. Using your experience in Cisco, Juniper, and other COTS hardware and network performance management, and your technical curiosity and knowledge of industry standards, you’ll serve as a trusted advisor to clients on mission-critical projects and make an impact on national security missions. Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience with IP networking design and troubleshooting
  • 3+ years of experience architecting and designing complex DoD network systems, and leading the testing and deployment of DoD systems or solutions
  • 3+ years of experience with Cisco switches, routers, and firewalls set up and configuration
  • 3+ years of experience with network and firewall troubleshooting or problem-solving
  • 3+ years of experience configuring and troubleshooting IPv6 or IPSec VPNs
  • Knowledge of routing protocols and networking technologies such as BGP, MPLS, VLAN, IP Multicast, IP QoS, IPV6, or IPSec
  • Ability to initiate, manage, execute, and report tasks independently, and communicate complex network principles and designs to clients
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
  • Top Secret clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, or Engineering field

  • Knowledge of existing DoD network services or network implementations
  • Knowledge of network function virtualization or software defined networking
  • Knowledge of industry trends and best practices
  • CCNP, CCDP, or similar Professional Certification
