DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: The School Based Therapist provides mental health counseling, case management, crisis intervention, and consultation services to enrolled students and their families. The therapist also provides psycho-education, trainings, and consultation to staff and collaborates with school staff and community at the school site in which they are placed. As a team member of CASSY (Counseling and Support. Services for Youth), the school-based therapist reports to the Program Manager.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Social Work/Psychology/Counseling,
  • Current registration with the BBS.
  • Minimum one year's experience providing therapeutic services to youth.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Creative, resourceful, ethical and professional.
  • Submit and maintain evidence of a current (completed within the last year) negative Tuberculin test, maintain clear Criminal Background Check/Fingerprinting, and any other mandatory state/federal requirements.
  • Bilingual abilities preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conduct group, individual, and/or family therapy for each assigned student.
  • Maintain a minimum caseload as indicated by your Clinical Program Manager.
  • Create, monitor, and implement individual treatment plans with goals for each student.
  • Participate in school, parent, and community workshops, presentations, and collaborative meetings.
  • Work collaboratively and provide consultation with school staff.
  • Record and document all client and collateral contacts in a timely manner, as required by professional, legal, and ethical standards.
  • Assist with crisis intervention and treatment.
  • Attend all required trainings and meetings, as designated by supervisor, which may include some evenings and weekends.
  • Meet regularly with supervisor, both individually and in group, and present cases as required.
  • Maintain and report client demographic and treatment data within data system.
  • Consult regularly with outside professionals, which may include CPS, CAMFT, School Resource Officers and BBS.
  • Follow all Child Protective Services mandates and requirements, particularly regarding reporting of suspected child abuse.
  • Maintain active registration and/or licensure with BBS.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
