About The Position

As a School Bus Attendant at Barr Transportation, you will play a crucial role in ensuring student safety and maintaining a positive environment during school transportation. This is a safety-sensitive position because you are responsible for the care and supervision of students while the vehicle is in motion, and any impairment could create a significant risk of harm.

School bus attendants must be patient, attentive, and able to manage student behavior while supporting the bus driver’s focus on safe vehicle operation.

Requirements

• This role is classified as a safety-sensitive position
• Minimum age: 18 years
• Valid driver’s license or state-issued identification, plus work authorization
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to pass required background checks and drug testing
• Ability to work split shifts (AM/PM) daily
• Strong attention to safety and student supervision

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with children (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Assist students with boarding and exiting the bus safely
• Monitor student behavior and maintain order during transit
• Support students with special needs, including operating wheelchair lifts and securement systems
• Assist with emergency evacuations and follow safety procedures
• Communicate effectively with drivers, parents, and school staff
• Help create a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for all riders
