Requirements

  • Active New Jersey Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in good standing
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience as an LPN (school-based experience preferred)
  • Strong clinical judgment, integrity, and commitment to confidentiality
  • Ability to respond effectively and calmly in emergency situations
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and multitasking skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, staff, and administration

  • Ability to pass required background checks and provide proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident status

Responsibilities

  • Maintain complete, accurate, and confidential student health records, including immunizations, physicals, screenings, and care plans
  • Administer medications in accordance with state law, school policy, and standing medical orders
  • Provide first aid and respond to medical emergencies, acute illness, injury, and emotional crises during school hours
  • Develop and implement individualized student care plans based on assessment and ongoing evaluation
  • Monitor immunization compliance and manage communicable disease reporting and prevention protocols
  • Serve as the primary medical consultant to school staff, including teachers, counselors, food service, and physical education teams
  • Support School Support Team (SST) and Child Study Team (CST) meetings with health-related insights and recommendations
  • Coordinate health services for field trips, review trip rosters, and attend trips requiring nurse coverage (including occasional after-hours events)
  • Maintain inventory and order medical supplies and equipment for the nurse’s office and first aid stations
  • Collaborate with families to connect them to community health resources and support services
  • Travel between campuses as needed to provide coverage and ensure continuity of care
