About The Position

QUINCY SCHOOL DISTRICT SCHOOL NURSE Supervisor: Director of Special Programs Location: Support Services Condition of work: 1 FTE/180 Days +additional days Contingent on Student Enrollment ABOUT THE DISTRICT: The Quincy Valley is located near the center of Washington State, just 10 miles north of I- 90 and about half way between Seattle and Spokane. Agriculture and technology provide the economic base in the Quincy Valley with over 200,000 irrigatable acres and several data centers including Microsoft, investing new facilities in our community. Quincy School District encompasses 450 square miles of the Quincy Valley Area including George, WA. In addition, the city of Quincy has a population of over 8,000, and approximately 15,000 people live within the school district. The Quincy School District has five elementary schools one middle school, one alternative learning K-12 school, and a 2A high school. The district has approximately 3,180 students as well as 500 certificated and classified staff members. The district has a large diverse student population; 87.9 percent are Hispanic, 0.4 percent Asian, and 0.3 percent African American. Requirements

  • (BSN) Baccalaureate degree in nursing (preferred), or Associate Degree in nursing while currently enrolled in RN to BSN program, from an accredited college or university.
  • Holds a valid Washington State license to practice as a Registered Nurse.
  • Holds ESA School Nurse certificate or willing to obtain within first year of employment.
  • CPR/First Aid & AED Certified; willing to remain up to date with certifications
  • 2 years nursing experience preferred in areas of child, family, and community health
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, and community; both verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrate consistent punctuality and attendance
  • Work collaboratively with supervisors and colleagues
  • Demonstrate flexibility with schedule changes as student needs and priorities change
  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity of information and records
  • Experience in delegating and supervising medical procedures and providing yearly staff trainings related to medical issues and student-specific needs

Responsibilities

  • Provide yearly health assessments of all QSD students; prepare health plans and provide staff training as appropriate.
  • Monitor health of high-risk students throughout the school year.
  • Work with students grades Pre-School-12; general education and special education departments
  • Monitor compliance of health programs in an educational setting within federal, state, and local laws, regulations, policies, and procedural guidelines
  • Serve as a resource person and liaison for health-related issues for students, parents, and staff
  • Assess and identify communicable diseases and health risks to student and staff populations and facilitate necessary interventions
  • Provide basic health assessments and first aid for students; refer when appropriate
  • Attend building/district meetings, trainings and conferences as required
  • Other related duties as assigned
