The Director of Faculty Development provides strategic leadership for all faculty development activities and operational oversight for the Office of Faculty within the BYU School of Medicine (BYU Med). This role ensures that faculty and all individuals who teach or assess medical students are prepared, supported, and continually developed in alignment with school objectives and accreditation standards. The Director of Faculty Development will work to strengthen Christlike attributes among faculty by designing development programs that integrate faith, character, and professional practice. This role fosters environments where attributes exemplified by Jesus Christ, such as integrity, humility, compassion, service, accountability, and love for others, are modeled, taught, and reinforced through mentoring, leadership training, reflective practice, and community engagement. The director reports to the Associate Dean of Faculty, supervises all staff within the Office of Faculty, and collaborates with other deans, department chairs, course and clerkship directors, and central curriculum and evaluation offices. Together, they build and sustain a culture of excellence in teaching, mentoring, leadership, and scholarship aligned with the mission of the BYU School of Medicine. In managing the operations of the Office of Faculty, the Director designs procedures, oversees the processing of all faculty appointments and promotions across the school, and monitors and assesses progress toward strategic and operational objectives to drive ongoing improvement. The Director is entrusted with comprehensive oversight of faculty development programming and will ensure that systems for monitoring, evaluating, and facilitating faculty development, appointments, and promotions are efficient, accurate, and aligned with the school’s mission and goals.
