About The Position

Revolution Medicines is a clinical-stage precision oncology company focused on developing novel targeted therapies to inhibit frontier targets in RAS-addicted cancers. The company’s R&D pipeline comprises RAS(ON) Inhibitors designed to suppress diverse oncogenic variants of RAS proteins, and RAS Companion Inhibitors for use in combination treatment strategies. As a new member of the Revolution Medicines team, you will join other outstanding Revolutionaries in a tireless commitment to patients with cancers harboring mutations in the RAS signaling pathway. The Opportunity: We are seeking a revolutionary team-player with high energy for our dynamic company environment. This position will be responsible for research, development, and technology transfer of chemical processes to commercial scale. This role is an individual contributor with direct laboratory responsibilities, reporting to the Senior Director, Process Chemistry.

Requirements

  • PhD in organic chemistry or a related discipline and a minimum of 2-5 years of related experience (may include post-doc); MSc degree in organic chemistry or a related discipline with 8+ years of relevant experience, or a BS degree in chemistry and a minimum of 10+ years of experience in chemical experimentation.
  • Hands-on experience with detailed reaction analysis in synthetic organic chemistry. Impurity identification with structural elucidation through NMR, HPLC, and LC-MS for routine analysis is essential.
  • Written and verbal communication to enable effective and efficient discussions of detailed and complex scientific ideas, results, and procedures.
  • Functional data plotting to identify trends and dependencies is a must. High competence with the Microsoft and ChemDraw suites to communicate research results in a compelling manner is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Develop chemical processes through design and execution of laboratory experiments. Design and propose viable alternative chemistry for drug substance and intermediates, including route evaluation and process optimization.
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data to troubleshoot reactions, identify anomalies, and improve operational efficiency, yield, and purity of synthetic procedures.
  • Independently perform multi-step organic syntheses, including the purification, and characterization of intermediates and final compounds.
  • Maintain a detailed, accurate and up-to-date electronic notebook. Author process development reports as need to support knowledge capture. Present experimental findings and recommendations in team meetings.
  • Partner with analytical development, pharmaceutical development, and supply chain functions to maintain overall project timelines.
  • Author detailed experimental procedures, and technical reports to support regulatory filings and internal documentation.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure smooth technology transfer and process implementation at external partners.
  • International travel to CRO/CDMO for the oversight of development activities and manufacturing (up to approximately 10%).
