About The Position

We're hiring for a Scientist in Process Development responsible for planning and executing upstream cell culture process experiments, analyzing data, and contributing to process development projects. The ideal candidate will be involved in troubleshooting complex issues, requiring a strong understanding of cell culture and continuous manufacturing, including the use of perfusion bioreactors. Landmark Bio is a Watertown, Massachusetts–based company focused on advancing the development and manufacturing of genetic medicines and other advanced therapies. Requirements

  • Ph.D. in chemical engineering, biology, biotechnology, or related discipline or Master’s degree with 5+ years or Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of relevant experience
  • Strong understanding of tissue culture and aseptic technique
  • Experience working with bioreactors in perfusion mode.
  • Strong team worker who is also independently motivated, detail oriented and possesses good problem-solving capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently as well as part of interdisciplinary development team.
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong verbal and written skills; able to handle confidential information and material appropriately

Nice To Haves

  • Track record of success in biopharmaceutical process development
  • Experience with continuous biomanufacturing process development
  • Experience with scale-up and scale-down of perfusion cell culture processes
  • Experience/knowledge of extracellular vesicle process development

Responsibilities

  • All aspects of mammalian cell culture and aseptic technique.
  • Culturing different cell types including primary cells, cell lines, and iPSC cells.
  • Maintaining small-scale bioreactors from 0.25mL to 10L scale in perfusion mode.
  • Cell transfection, transduction, and other genetic manipulation techniques.
  • Development of unit operations suitable for integration in a continuous manufacturing process.
  • Maintain accurate and reliable records including database management, batch records, lab notebooks, and all other pertinent documentation.
  • Writing and/or contributing to SOPs, batch records, protocols and reports.
  • Cross training and collaboration with colleagues on harvest and downstream purification technologies
  • Comply with all environmental health and safety standards.
  • This is a hands-on lab-based position requiring a flexible schedule based on experimental work (some weekend work may be required).
