About The Position

The Scrap Reconciliation Specialist serves as the key liaison between Manufacturing Operations and Finance, ensuring that all production-related material loss is accurately documented, valued, and reconciled. This position analyzes material variances, maintains inventory accuracy, and supports month‑end financial close for the assembly plant. Working closely with the Process Scrap Documentation Associate, this role translates shop‑floor scrap activity into accurate financial records to prevent asset overstatement and ensure cost transparency. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or Operations Management.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Epicor Kinetic, Sage X3).
  • Advanced Excel proficiency (pivot tables, lookups, data modeling).
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • High attention to detail with audit‑ready documentation.
  • Ability to reconcile complex data sets and identify discrepancies.
  • Effective cross-functional communication skills.
  • Understanding of standard costing, BOM structures, and manufacturing workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliation of scrap quantities, scrap values, disposal costs, and recycling revenue streams.
  • Validate shop-floor scrap documentation against ERP transaction histories.
  • Prepare regular reporting packages summarizing scrap trends, root causes, and financial impacts.
  • Analyze variances between standard and actual material consumption.
  • Investigate assembly-related scrap factors and collaborate with Engineering and Production.
  • Reconcile WIP, inventory clearing accounts, and scrap accounts with the general ledger.
  • Support cycle counts, scrap audits, and physical inventory events.
  • Review open manufacturing jobs for accurate labor/material usage before closure.
  • Prepare and post journal entries for scrap and WIP adjustments.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Procurement, and Planning teams on scrap accuracy and BOM alignment.
