About The Position

Under general supervision responsible for screen making including fabric selection, screen selection, screen stretching, stencil selection, application, exposure, and development and screen storage. Also responsible for positioning image on screen according to job specifications, blocking out and taping screens, mixing emulsions, maintaining adequate screen making supplies, and performing general maintenance on screen making equipment.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written, or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standard situations.
  • Strong computer and systems experience is required (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, internet);
  • Excellent communication skills focusing on oral, written, and listening abilities;
  • Solution-driven with the ability to work through a problem and maintain focus under pressure;
  • Active team player who always exhibits a positive work attitude and can work with little supervision;
  • A desire to work with a high-performance team and a willingness to grow and be challenged!

Responsibilities

  • Selects proper screen fabric and mesh count, cuts fabric to size.
  • Selects and assembles frames, if necessary.
  • Stretches screen fabric across frame, tension fabric to required specifications, attaches it to frame, and labels screen.
  • Prepares screen for stencil adhesion.
  • Selects and adheres stencil to fabrics.
  • Checks artwork to ensure conformity to job specifications, and is free of defects such as dust, dirt particles, ink, scratches, and pinholes.
  • Positions film positives, exposes, and develops screen.
  • Tapes and blocks out perimeter of screen.
  • Checks for and repairs pinholes in screen.
  • Maintains adequate screen making supplies.
  • Performs general maintenance on screen making equipment.
  • Repairs static frames as necessary.
  • Maintains cleanliness of work area and equipment.
  • Expose emulsion with consideration given to type of emulsion, exposure time, mesh and final use according to department work instructions.
