The City of Greeley Water & Sewer Division is looking to hire a Seasonal Laborer to work at our Reservoirs location with an interest in municipal water and sewer. Ideally, this position will start in April 2026 and work through September 2026. Career advancement opportunities exist throughout the City. This position is located at 23rd Avenue and Reservoir Road in Greeley, Colorado. Scheduled Hours: Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM The Seasonal Laborer in the Reservoirs division obtains daily readings from various stations, daily inspections and assists system operators with preventive maintenance. Additional duties may include performing work on pumps, valves, sprinklers, mowing grass, maintaining pump station sites and other related job duties.

Requirements

  • MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record (MVR and background check required).
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow instructions in English, or the ability to demonstrate equivalent proficiency, is essential for safety on the job.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and reliable professional judgment, as well as collaboratively with a team to achieve desired results.
  • Ability to maintain a strong work ethic, positive problem-solving attitude, and enthusiasm for the work performed.
  • Ability to self-start and take initiative in completing daily tasks and special projects.

  • Basic computer skills in order to enter timesheet information into Oracle and basic knowledge of Microsoft products.

  • Manual dexterity enough to operate hand and power tools, move objects
  • Move heavy objects (50 lbs. or more) a long distance (20 feet or more).

  • Vision enough to perform above functions, read printed instructions.
  • Work with small objects (placing washers on bolts).
  • Work in small and/or cramped areas.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic knowledge of mechanical equipment, lawn mowing and sprinklers preferred.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and other times as needed.
  • Previous trades experience in concrete work, carpentry, chemical weed sprays, and/or asphalt placement preferred.
  • Previous pump maintenance experience preferred.
  • Spanish/English bilingual preferred but not required.

  • Learn to record and maintain data; collect and analyze water samples.
  • Learn to perform other functions such as janitorial, grounds and mechanical maintenance.
  • Follow written and/or verbal instructions.
  • Attend safety sessions and keep informed about safety and emergency procedures.
  • Interprets information on a computer screen and follows a sequence of repair information.
  • Measures distance using a tape measure or calibrated instruments.
  • Move debris, dirt, and other material from one location to another using a shovel, rake, or other hand tools.
