About The Position

Maintains Renville County highways, rural roads, ditches, and rights-of-way in safe condition.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to four years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid Class D Driver’s License
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and judge depth and density.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to use independent judgment to analyze a variety of changing conditions and determine the course of action necessary to continue, complete or initiate a wide range of work assignments.
• Ability to operate the equipment described under the duties of the position.
• Ability to manage own properties and schedule in area of responsibility, or assigned geographic area.
• Ability to deal with confrontations with citizens with calmness.
• Very visible to public and must be capable of effective interactions with members of the public.

• Heavy Equipment Experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Roadside vegetation control with tractor mower and sprayer.
• Drives tractor with mower attachment for grass, weed, and brush control; and maintains equipment.
• Picking up litter along roads.
• Upkeep of various County Shops and grounds.
