About the position

The Anoka County Parks mission is to positively impact the quality of life in Anoka County by providing parks, outdoor recreation, and leisure services for the public. Our mission encompasses the protection of the natural environment, improving the health of citizens, and supporting a strong local economy. The department has an immediate opening for Seasonal Visitor Center Attendant who will perform various duties. Some of the critical responsibilities of this position include providing excellent customer service to park users by ensuring communication is carried out in a polite, professional, and efficient manner. This is a seasonal, non-exempt, on-site position. Interviews will take place as applications are received for those selected to move forward in the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service to park users by ensuring communication is carried out in a polite, professional, and efficient manner.
  • Operate point of sale and reservation systems to assist customers.
  • Enforce policies and handle customer concerns in a respectful and consistent manner.
  • Mediate and resolve customer complaints or concerns.
  • Arm and disarm the building security system as needed.
  • Communicate via various technology (phone, computer, radio device).
  • Balance monitoring, ordinance advisement, and answering park questions/requests or concerns.
  • Must be neatly groomed and willing to wear and maintain a uniform.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be 16 years of age or older by the first day of employment.
  • Successfully pass a criminal history background check.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous campground/hospitality experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Previous experience in customer service and leadership.
  • Accurate record keeping and oral/written communication.
  • Planning, organizing, and problem solving.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Take direction and complete assigned job duties independently.
  • Read and interpret manuals, county policies and procedures.
  • Use a computer, phone, radio, and other office equipment.
