Requirements

  • Possess good communication and reasoning skills with the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions whether written or oral.
  • Must be able to read blueprints.
  • Detail oriented.

Nice To Haves

  • CNC background a plus but not currently necessary for the job.

Responsibilities

  • Perform setup, calibration, and maintenance including lathes.
  • Read and interpret specification manuals, blueprints, templates and layouts to determine machining operation to be performed.
  • Compute dimensions and tolerances. Measure and lay out work pieces.
  • Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, gauges and micrometers.
  • Troubleshoot, debug and modify to achieve expected performance.
  • Cross train in other complementary skills, seek endorsements, and move between production assignments that utilize multiple skills needed to support production requirements.
  • Maintain a high degree of mechanical aptitude, accuracy and precision.
  • Lift 50 pounds (unassisted) for approximately 25% of the average workday.
  • Stand for prolonged periods.
  • Operate conventional, manual lathes (vertical or horizontal), mills and balance machines.
  • Select proper tools and speeds for the machining process
  • Machine and fabricate parts using engine lathes, mills, and drill presses; occasionally may operate grinder.
  • Perform machining operations as it relates to production of manufactured parts.
  • Perform manual machining duties in a shop setting.
  • Communicate job progress to supervisors and customers as needed in a positive, supportive, and timely manner.
