Location : This is a hybrid (virtual/onsite) position with required onsite days on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday assigned to One Energy Plaza located in Jackson, MI. The selected candidate must be within a commutable distance or willing to relocate (relocation package is available for those that qualify). General Summary of Job Responsibilities The Security Engineer plays a key role in supporting the organization’s security program by implementing security controls, monitoring systems for potential threats, and assisting with incident response activities. This position provides hands-on experience in operating and securing security infrastructure, analyzing security events, and enhancing security processes. Working closely with senior engineers and IT teams, the Security Engineer helps maintain the organization’s resilience against evolving cyber threats.

Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong teamwork skills, demonstrating humility, drive, and strong interpersonal awareness.
  • Knowledge of security technologies, principles, and best practices.
  • Hands-on experience in at least one of the following security domains: Identity Services, Automation, Network Security Services, Security Engineering, Application Security and Penetration Testing, or Vulnerability Management.
  • Strong troubleshooting abilities with the capability to navigate systems and efficiently resolve routine issues.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, and two (2) or more years of hands-on experience in IT, cybersecurity, computer networks, or systems engineering AAA Services, Active Directory, Application Control, Asset Discovery and Inventory Management, Azure AD, CI/CD Platforms, DDoS Protection, DLP, Dynamic Application Security Testing (DAST), Email Security, Endpoint Detection and Response, Firewalls, IaC Security, Logging, Multifactor Technologies, NAC, Networking Protocols, Scripting Languages, Secure Code Analysis (SCA), Secure Development Practices, Security Assessment & Testing, Security Configuration Assessment, SOAR tools, SSO, Static Application Security Testing (SAST), Threat Intelligence, Vulnerability Scanning, VPN, and Web Proxy.
  • [OR] Associate Degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, and four (4) or more years of hands-on experience in the areas listed above
  • [OR] High School Diploma or GED, and six (6) or more years of hands-on experience in the areas listed above

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including development, IT, and business partners—to integrate security best practices throughout the system development lifecycle.
  • Automate security processes using scripting tools and SOAR platforms to improve efficiency and consistency in incident response and vulnerability management.
  • Deploy and operate security tools and platforms within at least one of the following domains: Identity Services, Automation, Network Security Services, Security Engineering, Application Security and Penetration Testing, or Vulnerability Management, to improve visibility, detection, and response capabilities.
  • Implement, operate, and maintain comprehensive security solutions across systems, networks, and applications to ensure resilience against emerging threats.
  • Participate in incident response and problem-solving activities, investigating security events and implementing corrective measures.
  • Assist in maintaining security policies, procedures, and documentation to support compliance with regulatory and organizational requirements.
  • Research emerging security threats and technologies to support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and optimize security controls by implementing new technologies and process enhancements that align security requirements with business objectives.
