As a Patrol Unarmed Security Officer with Allied Universal at a shelter location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, maintain a visible presence that can help to discourage security-related incidents, and support staff, residents, and visitors with professional customer service. You will complete routine rounds, document observations, and communicate clearly to help keep operations running smoothly. Requirements

  • Possess a New York State Security Guard License.
  • Have at least 1 year of security-related experience.
  • Client requires proof of a high school diploma and/or GED.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • CPR and/or First Aid certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to residents, staff, and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a shelter location.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including disputes, medical situations, and unauthorized entry concerns, and notify site leadership and/or public services as required.
  • Conduct regular and random foot patrols of common areas, corridors, stairwells, entrances, and exterior perimeter to help to deter policy violations and/or trespassing.
  • Monitor access points by observing visitor flow, verifying authorization when required, and directing individuals to appropriate check-in and/or waiting areas per site procedures.
  • Document shift activity, incidents, and unusual conditions in written reports and/or electronic logs, and communicate observations during post handoff to support continuity of operations.
